Digital Product Owner (Hybrid Working)

About the Role

We are sourcing an experienced Digital Product Owner for our client a leading ecommerce / retail brand.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a rapidly growing company in a fast-changing and exciting industry. 

** This is a Hybrid Role with 3 days working in the Office and 2 from Home **

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with key stakeholders to develop and agree the product roadmap and vision
  • Gathering, managing, and prioritising the website development backlog
  • Sprint planning and user story readiness, with the development team
  • Breaking epic-level items into appropriately sized user stories, with the correct level of detail and acceptance criteria. Ensure user stories are ready for development to start work and labelled for key stakeholders
  • Wireframe and mock-up visuals for the development team to clearly understand what the requirements are from the business
  • Working closely with the scrum team to ensure the right customer problem is solved
  • Define customer needs (business teams, members) and ensure features to meet those needs. Sharing market research and competitive analysis to support requirements
  • Advocating on behalf of the customer for the development team
  • Development release planning and communication
  • Responsible for the QA of development releases
  • Troubleshooting reported website issues with business stakeholders
  • Prioritising defect or bug resolution
  • Owns digital development of UX and UI
  • Contributes to A/B testing and personalisation roadmap and roll out
  • Setting and maintaining website accessibility standards
  • Development and welfare of the Quality Assurance Specialist
  • Website release communications – external and internal communications
  • Day-to-day relationships with Optimizely and third-party tools which are used on the website (e.g. age verification, website monitoring, testing tools, postcode look up, ratings and reviews)
  • Maintain clear view of Optimizely roadmap and developments, ensuring relevant changes made to our website and roadmap


Essential skills / Experience Required:

  • Critical thinker: Able to think critically and exercise independent judgement and discretion. Makes strong decisions
  • Communication - able to communicate information and ideas clearly and articulately - written, spoken - to any audience
  • Commercially-minded – driven by the desire to create sales/value effectively, while also keeping members’ needs and our values in mind
  • Multitasker / organisational skills – strong organisational and planning skills. Comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities. Leads team and partners to deliver
  • Product experience gained in a busy online retail environment
  • Great knowledge of UX / UI, Digital innovation, Digital execution, and project management 

  • Creative thinker and problem solver – doesn’t take the status quo as the only way to do things, takes inspiration from lots of sources, challenges thinking
  • Strong Product owner role experience
  •  Great knowledge of Scrum, Agile methodologies, Jira or equivalent tool, Website monitoring software
